You all need to understand that the digestive system of a dog is way different from humans which means not everything that you eat can be a part of your dog’s diet. There are a number of food items that should be kept away from your dog to make sure he/she stays fit and eats right.

Thomas says that there are some food items that are just downright bad for dogs and can cause all sorts of health problems. It is possible that your dogs have eaten these “not to eat food items” in the past that caused no health problems, but they may be causing serious issues that you might not be aware of. So it’s better to take precautions beforehand for your dog and say “No” to sharing the food items with your dog that is not good for his/her health.

Here are a few foods you should never feed dogs, no matter how much you love sharing your food with your dog:

Chocolates

Theobromine that is found in chocolates is good for humans but does not suit dogs. This is the reason why chocolates do not suit dogs and can cause a dog to vomit, have diarrhea, and most extreme it can cause abnormal heart rhythms, seizures, tremors, excessive hair fall or even death. Doctors and other pet experts like Thomas suggest keeping the sweets away from your dog and act like a responsible dog parent.

Dairy Products

It is generally seen that people add dairy items in their dog’s diet which is totally wrong. As a fact related to dairy products, the dog’s digestive system is not built to process cow milk products. Whereas some dogs are able to handle dairy products more than others, many dogs are lactose intolerant but some adult dogs may develop diarrhea if given large amounts of dairy products. So the best you can do in this case is to avoid dairy-based foods.

Garlic and Onions

The consumption of garlic and onions is high in Indian households and also shares the same food with their dogs. These ingredients are not good for a dog’s digestive system as the ingredients contain sulfoxides and disulfides and can destroy red blood cells, leading to anemia, if consumed in high quantities.

Grapes and Raisins

Grapes and raisins are also listed under the food items that you must not feed your dog as they contain an unknown toxin, which can damage your dog’s kidneys. Other than this grapes and raisins can cause vomiting and lethargy which is again a sign of danger for your dog’s health.

Sugary Food

You must be aware that excessive sugar intake is not good for humans and can cause many health problems. Same is the case with dogs, sugar is not good for their health. Surgery food can lead to obesity, dental problems, and the possibility of diabetes mellitus in dogs as we can see in humans.
